Star Trek: Discovery will begin filming this month
After Star Trek: Beyond and the success it had in the box office this past year, the franchise will use the new interest to start a new series for TV. CBS announced that Star Trek: Discovery would air in 2017, but initially it was thought that we would be able to see it early in the year.
But 2016 came to an end and no cast had been announced, so all hopes to see a new TV series early in 2017 were gone.
International Alliance of Theatrical Employees has in their website that the series is slated to shoot in the city later this month, January 24 to be exact.
The cast stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp and the story is set 10 years prior to the events of Star Trek: The Original Series. The series will be the first new Star Trek series in over a decade and will premiere in May 2017 on CBS.
